Television: The Drug of the Nation

The above link illustrates/provides a few examples of the importance and use of song in a program's opening sequence. When creating your opening remember that instrumental music is just as powerful (sometimes more so) than pop songs. Using instrumental music frees you from being tied to lyrics.

The above link discusses the importance of 1970 sit-coms and their relevance to today's audience. It is important to remember that television has a long history.
